
A significant investigation generated by the Uganda Wildlife Crime Unit (UWCU) resulted in the seizure of 60 kgs. of elephant ivory tusks. On May 7, 2023, the UWCU led a multi-agency team who arrested 4 suspects in Amudat who conspired to sell the ivory tusks to the operatives. Six large whole tusks were brought to the hotel by the suspects. Among those arrested, included a senior Local Chairman with ties to the local Military Commander and a prominent member of Parliament.
