In March, 2023, the Kenya Wildlife Task Force (KWTF) acted on intelligence that resulted in the seizure of 5450 kilos of sandalwood. Two (2) suspects were arrested and the Isuzu lorry vehicle was seized at the time. Post arrest, the KWTF followed up on informaiton and identified a third subject involved. The officers learned that the third subject was previously charged in June 2019 for possession of 53 kgs. of elephant ivory and was attending a court proceeding on May 18, 2023 in Nakuru magistrate court. The KWTF officers attended the hearing for the ivory case and then arrested the subject for his involvement in the sandalwood trafficking investigation.
