Op ORIS results in Ivory seizure and arrests in Uganda

On June 6, 2023, a sucessful multi-agency operation led by the Uganda Wildlife Crime Unit (UWCU) resulted in the arrest of two suspects who offered to sell 10 elephant ivory pieces weighing approximately 50 kgs with assistance from the Uganda Wildlife Authority and Uganda Police Force. The operation, known as Operation ORIS, took place near the town of Ruburizi in southwest Uganda. Operatives with the UWCU engaged the traffickers who were attempting to sell the elephant ivory.
