On June 21, 2023, the Uganda Wildlife Crime Unit led a mulit-agency operation known as Operation JASPER that resulted in the arrest of two (2) suspect who were offering 15 kgs. of freshly cut elephant tusks for sale near Hoima, Western Uganda. The ivory pieces, along with the Subaru vehicle were seized and subject to asset confiscation following conviction.
