On July 11, 2023, the Uganda Wildlife Crime Unit collaborated with the World Parrot Trust to investigate the possible trafficking of parrots near Kampala. The traffickers met with operatives to sell 18 live lovebirds that were unlawfully possessed. Two suspects were arrested and the 18 Fisher’s Lovebirds were seized. The parrots are currently being cared for at the Uganda Wildlife Education Center and will be released at a later date.
