Operation Martial was conducted by the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Special Wildlife Office (NSWO) that resulted in the rescue of 57 exotic birds. Two subjects were arrested transporting the birds. The birds included: 30 Rose ring parakeets, 21 Brown head conures, 5 African Grey parrots and 1 Red tail hawk. Six of the birds were dead due to conditions. Birds are being cared for with hopes of being released back into the wild.
